Here’s an interesting debate
What comes first the chicken or the egg?
It’s a topic for debate which has led to endless discussion since the dawn of time, bit like the golfing version which has also had people yarning in clubhouses for years and years.
What comes first?
Thinking you’re going to hit good shots and giving yourself confidence or actually hitting good shots and letting confidence come from past results?
Confidence, it’s a strange thing.
It comes and it goes. I know from my own game that one day I can be in a really good place with my game and feel happy and ready to take on the challenges of any course.
The next day, well let’s just say sometimes it feels like I couldn’t hit a cows backside with a barn door.
My take on it all is this.
You can’t kid yourself into playing well. Golf is just too difficult and the penalties of missed strokes on the scorecard to severe.
There’s no point kidding yourself you’re going to play well, when you’re hitting it off the map.
That’s delusional, despite what some mid gurus would have you believe.
Instead I think confidence comes from previous results, you build up a picture in your mind of what your capable of and you go from there.
Of course the better your swing the better your shots which lead to increased confidence in your own ability and an increase in performance.
And that my friend leads to strokes off your score and that handicap coming down and much silver ware and booty to come your way.
Now something else you may want to know about.
Did you know that average golfer is being robbed of upto 40 yards carry off the tee? This game changing yardage is right there waiting to be tapped into and most players don’t even know it exists. I spill the beans at the link below.
