I heard this on the radio the other day, so it must be a true story.
Apparently there is a restaurant owner in London who is fed up with smartphones.
Turns out he’s got the right hump with people coming to his restaurant for a nice meal and instead of conversing with each other, they look into the mobile idiot box.
Apparently it kills the atmosphere.
I’d have to agree, I bet the silence is deafening with all the scrolling, hash tagging, liking and god knows what going on.
The solution.
Hand you’re phone over to your waiter at the start of the meal to be placed in a secure little black box which is tucked neatly away, and you qualify for a ten percent discount off your bill.
Nice.
When you think about this logically, people take time out of their schedules to spend time with each other, they spend good money on going to a nice restaurant to have a nice time and all they do is stare into the mobile idiot box.
No doubt tagging themselves in some contrived photo on social media to show the world what a great time their having.
Bet no one posts a selfie of themselves head down scrolling on their phone across the table from their partner.
That would look S&*t to all the fake friends on SM.
Anyways, that’s why we’re so fortunate to play this game of golf, the game we all love.
Time spent in the great outdoors with people you enjoy spending time with (well most of the time anyways, never nice when you get a bad draw in the old monthly medal at the club!).
Fact is, that in order to play well, you have to concentrate on nothing else but golf for four hours is a god send for most people, it allows them to escape the day to day grind and be someplace else.
It truly is a wonderful game, the best.
So if you haven’t done so already, get a game scheduled sooner rather than later. Phone a friend and get that tee time booked.
Chances are you could stop reading this email, flick to your contacts, buzz your pal up and arrange that game.
And hopefully you’re not sat at a restaurant table opposite your better half or your kids reading this, if you are, turn it off and conversate.
If you have to spend more time stuck on the phone, then click over to this link and find out how you could be a better golfer than you are now.
